Prayer to St. Joseph

by Marian on January 26, 2010

Dear St. Joseph,

You were yourself once faced with responsibility of providing the necessities of life for Jesus and Mary.  Look down with fatherly compassion upon me in my anxiety over my present inability to support my family.

Please help me find gainful employment very soon, so that this heavy burden of concern will be lifted from my heart and that I am soon able to provide for those whom God has entrusted to my care.

Help us guard against bitterness and discouragement so that we may emerge from this trial spiritually enriched and with even greater blessings from God.

Amen.

EXPECT GOD’S BEST

Jesus took all of His hidden dreams and laid them on the people.

His dreams became a gospel.  Our dreams have the same destiny.

“Dear friends, do not be discouraged!

“Providence always helps those who do good and dedicate themselves to justice; it helps those who do not think only of themselves but of those who are worse off.

“The fundamental values of the family and respect for human life, sensibility for social justice, the capacity to endure toil and sacrifice, the strong link to Christian faith through parish life and especially through participation at Holy Mass, have been your strength over the centuries.

“These same values will permit today’s generations to build their future with hope, giving life to a true solidarity and a fraternal society, in which all the various spheres, institutions and economy are permeated by an evangelical spirit.”

Remaining Positive in Difficult Times

There’s no doubt that this has been a tough year for a lot of people and on a lot of levels. Whether it be perceived or real loss of finances, job instability, unrest in the world or whatever other personal circumstances – as a culture or as individuals, we are showing signs of distress, and now more than ever it’s important for us as disciples to remember who we are and rely on the things that will help ourselves and others to weather the storms we are facing.
