Literacy Programs Congregation Coordinator

The InterFaith Leadership Council is seeking a part-time (approx. 20 hour/week) Literacy Programs Congregation Coordinator to work with religious organizations and faith-based communities (churches, temples and mosques) in metropolitan Detroit. This Coordinator will introduce an early learning program for parents and caregivers of children under the age of five. The Coordinator will be responsible for the overall implementation of the program within faith communities and will work for the InterFaith Leadership Council, serving as its liaison between the religious groups and Detroit Public Television, the funder of the project.

Required Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s degree with concentrations in education or social work preferred. Experience in both early childhood education and community organizing are key qualifications. Must be able to work with diverse populations and be comfortable within diverse faith-based settings; be an excellent communicator, comfortable with public speaking; a self-starter able to function under minimal supervision; energetic; a creative thinker; and have a positive attitude. Some night and weekend work will be required. A valid driver’s license and a vehicle are required since this job will necessitate travel within the tri-county area of metropolitan Detroit.
