Local Job Fair – Tim Hortons

by KHouseman on June 26, 2013

The Michigan Economic Development Corp. and Tim Hortons restaurants are teaming up to host a live MiVirtualCareerFair event on June 26 from 10 am – 4 pm online and at participating restaurants around Michigan. Tim Hortons Troy at 3331 Rochester Road is one of the locations.

There are more than 50,000 jobs available in various industries on the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website, which connects Michigan employers to qualified talent as well as provides resources for job seekers.

Partnering with Tim Hortons allows the MEDC to extend these resources, including the virtual career fair, to job seekers that might not have had access to mitalent.org and help connect them with career opportunities throughout the state.

MiVirtualCareerFair allows employers to connect with top talent and gives job seekers the opportunity to apply for dozens of available positions without the inconvenience and expense of traditional job fairs. Within MiVirtualCareerFair, employers host exhibitor booths that include links to job postings, company profiles, employee benefits, and employer contact information, and allow job seekers to communicate one-on-one with company representatives.

For the June 26 event, job seekers are encouraged to visit Tim Hortons Troy to take advantage of the various resources that will be available onsite, helping both Michigan residents and employers find and fill jobs. Talent Connect and Michigan Works staff will be on hand to provide advice and feedback on resumes, interview tips and answer questions. Computers will also be available and connected to Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop’s free Wi-Fi, allowing participants to upload their resume to the mitalent.org website and connect with participating companies at the virtual event.

All participants are encouraged to come with resumes ready to share with employers virtually and with Talent Connect and Michigan Works representatives. Participation is free for job seekers, who can register, view informational videos on the virtual environment, and learn how to navigate within the environment.

The participating Michigan Works agencies are Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works in Saginaw, Area Community Services Employment and Training Council in Grand Rapids, and Oakland County Michigan Works Workforce Development Division in Troy.

These employers will take part in MiVirtualCareerFair and will be looking to fill a wide range of positions:
• Accenture
• Cumulus Broadcasting
• Dart Container
• Entech Staffing Solutions
• Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn & Lodge
• Ingham County
• Mistequay Group Ltd
• Renu Wireless USA
• Roush
• Secure-24
• Spectrum Health
• State of Michigan
• TD Auto Finance
• TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants
• TechSmith Corp.

All job openings posted during the fair will be accessible to participants for 30 days after the live event.
