Community & Home Supports is seeking a Supervisor of Housing Services.

Job Summary:  This Supervisor of Housing Services (SHS) is responsible for managing the housing programs; and staff, interns, and volunteers. This includes conducting weekly team meetings and in-services training, writing monthly reports, assigning cases, providing support to staff and other collaborating agencies to ensure an effective and efficient service delivery process.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities – The SHS directly supervises program staff and monitors the expertise and skills of each staff member. The SHS must be experienced in program development and implementation. The SHS also is responsible to:

  • be able to provide direct services and interventions to families, maintain appropriate case documentation and be knowledgeable of community resources.
  • maintain an internal system of tracking caseloads and assignment of new cases.
  • monitor program staff performance, absences and schedules; complete program staff evaluations.
  • assist in completing monthly/quarterly/annual reports for the various contracts. Ensures compliance with housing contract requirements.
  • participate in the development of programmatic protocols.
  • assuring that assessments, reports, and case files are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • facilitate team meetings for review of case plans, intervention techniques, program goals, and other related information.
  • facilitate monthly meetings and in-service training/seminars for agency and members of the HUD/SHP continuum.
  • develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community providers.
  • assist in grant proposal development and the management of the program budget.
  • attend and participate in relevant community meetings, expositions and conferences related to housing and homelessness.
  • track and respond to client grievances, and develop systems to acquire feedback from program participants about agency services.
  • evaluate monthly program performance measures and outcome reports.
  • perform other tasks commensurate with abilities and experience as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent with the ability to obtain LMSW or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of increasing levels of professional experience, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Background working with people who are homeless, people who are diagnosed with substance abuse or mental illness or who are dually diagnosed.
  • Ability to relate to and engage with high-risk, crisis oriented, multi-problem, multi-cultural individuals and families.
  • Experience working with homeless shelters.
  • Excellent management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate programs and services with various contract agencies in pursuit of a common mission.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Creativity, ability to interpret and apply complex federal and local level regulations and ability to negotiate outcomes.
  • Diplomatic and negotiating skills, whether with clients, among staff or with organizational and program partners.

Physical Demands:

This Supervisor of Housing Services is a professional positing combining work in the field and office. Physical tasks are minimal. Adjusted hours and extensive scheduled and non-scheduled local travel may be required in executing the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Conditions of employment include employees providing their own transportation and maintaining a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and vehicle insurance in compliance with State of Michigan requirements. Employee is responsible for ensuring that any alternative form of transportation complies with these directives.

Training: Job-specific training will be coordinated and/or provided by Executive Director and staff and as recommended and required by Community & Home Supports.
