Computer Skills for the Job Seeker
Are you looking for work? Do you need basic computer skills to help you apply for jobs? Do you need help in writing a resume and navigating job websites? If so, the Troy Public Library has a free, two-week program just for you:Computer Skills for the Job Seeker. This program will help you bring your computer skills up-to-date and improve your job search.
Computer Skills includes 30 hours of hands-on training. You will learn how to
• organize your computer files;
• create an electronic resume in Word;
• communicate with employers via email;
• apply for jobs online;
• successfully interview; and
• stay in contact using social network websites.
There will also be plenty of time for individualized one-on-one assistance, and a comprehensive workbook. The sessions will be held in the Library Training Room. All classes will be taught by the Library’s award-winning staff.
There are still openings for the July 22-August 1 session. Time: 10 am-2 pm. Apply attroylibrary.info/jobseekers.

What Employers Really Want
What qualities and skills do employers really want in this fast-changing environment? Find out on Tuesday, July 30, from 10:15 am to 11:15 am at the Troy Public Library. The Troy Library is hosting a panel discussion with local business experts who will speak frankly about what to emphasize when going on that all-important job interview.
The panelists include:
Jessica Hammond, Vice President, Talent Acquisition, United Shore Financial Services
Brian Kischnick, City Manager, City of Troy
Lisa Palo, Talent Acquisition, Altair
Jennifer Robert, Vice President of Information Technology, Genisys Credit Union
Cathy Russ, the Library Director, will moderate the discussion.
This session is free, and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
