akland County Workforce Development – @ St. Daniel, Clarkston- Mark your calendars – July 19
Hello folks,
We have been fortunate enough to have connected with some excellent resources in the Business Incubator at Oakland University, and the Oakland County Office of Workforce Development. We have arranged to have Mr. John Almstadt, manager of the office for the county, come present at St. Daniel on July 19 @ 7:30 pm.
Initial draft of contents:
- Describe what Oakland County Workforce Development does, is responsible for and how to contact the right people in your organization to help people seeking jobs.
- Are jobs available today? In what fields/occupations?
- Which fields/occupations are forecast to grow the fastest thus offer the most job opportunities the near term?
- Are there opportunities for people to learn a skill through an Apprenticeship?
- Which fields/occupations are hiring apprentices today?
- What is the short term to medium term outlook for apprenticeships and in what fields/occupations?
- People are retiring. Does this mean jobs are available or are companies using retirement as a downsizing tool?
- Where the best opportunities for job seekers to fill a job vacated by a retirement?
- Does the “No Worker Left Behind Program” do what the title says?
- What has been accomplished to date?
- How can people seeking jobs get into the program?
- How does the Michigan Talent Bank work for job seekers?
- What can job seekers expect from the Oakland County Michigan Works! Centers?
- Do they all provide the same services, programs, etc.?
- What is the best approach for Oakland County Organizations who are actively helping people who are seeking jobs to take?
